Krav Maga is a discipline that is becoming increasingly popular every day. In order to start practicing this discipline, it is important to learn some basic techniques of the combat system. What is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga is a martial art designed for warfare. There is a big difference between Krav Maga and modern Japanese martial arts, as modern Japanese martial arts have a philosophical, non-martial character, seeking through techniques and constant practice of a martial art to find a path of self-discovery and perfection, while Krav Maga seeks more for survival in a war scenario or situation where human life is in danger.
Basic techniques of Krav Maga
In Krav Maga, all parts of the body are used as a means of defense (hand, fist, legs, knees, feet, head, etc.).
The objective of this personal defense system is to defend in any situation or scenario, even in possible cases where attackers are armed or aggression occurs in a small area.
Defensive posture By placing your feet apart and at the same level as your shoulders, take a step forward with your left leg if you are right-handed (or with your right leg if you are left-handed).
Bend your knees slightly and raise the heel of the foot that is further back.
Raise your hands up to your face and tuck your elbows in.
Slightly raise your shoulders and protect your chin.
Blocking a punch Extend your arms and fingers.
Bend your elbows slightly, trying to stop the attacker by raising the forearm closest to the attacker.
With the other hand, strike one of the soft points on their face.
Escaping from a bear hug
Bear hug refers to the situation when someone comes up from behind and grabs us tightly, pressing our arms.
As a first option, imitate the gesture of crouching, placing our feet wider than the width of our hips and moving to one side, striking our attacker in the groin.
Another option is to lean forward slightly and hit them with our elbow in the stomach.
Krav Maga is a truly amazing self-defense system.
